The project: BD Diabetes Care app
This free app (available on both iOS and Android) launched in 2018 and is now live in four languages and 5 countries.

The work: I came onboard in mid-2019 as the app’s first full-time content and engagement manager. In my role, I create and own the content roadmap and oversee the content creation, production and approval process. I also am responsible for writing UX copy, conversation trees, assessments, content packaging and headlines, home screen promo copy, behavioral goals, how-to guides and the instructions for use.
Behavioral goals feature
This major new feature includes an introductory article, an assessment to gauge the user’s functional and emotional state for 5 lifestyle areas, 25 goals of varying difficulty, and conversation trees to provide support and additional information along the way.
I wrote the entire experience, with input from our Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and our Health Economics Outcome Research (HEOR) team.

Data-driven insights
The app uses the blood glucose and activity data that users enter, either manually or with a paired device, to trigger insights into their condition. Each insight includes a conversation tree leading to relevant information and educational content in the app. I wrote all the insights and conversation trees.

Content packaging and headlines
In addition to assigning and editing evergreen educational content, I conceived and launched the first seasonal content campaigns for the BD Diabetes Care app (in-app, newsletters and social) in December, 2019. I’ve assigned, edited and published weekly content tied to seasonal events, a COVID-19 Resource Center, a Summer Living guide and an Exercise guide. Each campaign consisted of multiple touch points. I authored the home screen promos, headlines and navigation as well as newsletters to drive engagement to the content.

Reminders
Wrote home screen promos and push alerts. I wrote a total of 6 different push alerts for this feature.
